i’ve been a fan of austin kleon’s work for a few years now, and i was eager to get my hands on his latest book, “steal like an artist”. billed as a “manifesto for creativity in the digital age”, it’s chock full of great quotes, illustrations, and advice on how to follow your interests and embrace your influences. and though the title says “artist”, the material inside is applicable to any medium. it’s perfect for creatively-frustrated creative types (which i know many of you are), and i loved it so much that i want to give you a copy!

AFICIONADO - FALSIFIED INSPIRATION
Check out my Vimeo or my Tumblr for the rest of the set.x Q
Awesome video from Lawrence, KS from a super talented videographer/photographer who I now call my buddy. This was a super fun show where we might have partied a little too hard in solidarity with the locals, whose team just lost the college basketball championship. This is absolutely the best drum solo of the whole tour, and I’m glad it was captured on video so I could relive it again and laugh hysterically.
I haven’t posted much about the tour here since I’ve been home because I’m working on something else that you will see more in the future! I will say, however, that it was the best first tour I could have ever imagined going on and I miss all of my friends in Aficionado.
Fuck yes. One of the best shows I’ve ever filmed, and that title will probably last for a while. I recall the bartenders getting rather pissed off. But I made some new friends and hung out hard.
If you need any design or photo work, whether or not you’re in the Ohio area, hit Andee up. Dude rules.
KU Alternative Breaks - Blake Benton Profile
The next few posted videos will be some really short interview pieces I was commissioned to do for the Alternative Breaks group on campus. It’s a great group that focuses around social justice and volunteer work. Everyone who goes on one of these breaks can attest to what an awesome time they had. I almost wish I had another year of school so I could go and document what it’s like, in the flesh.
Take a look if this sort of thing interests you.

If you’d like me to use your NEW service, I’d really love it if you’d fix some of the most glaring issues with the new version.
Uploading videos takes nearly twice as long as they used to.
After I upload the videos, I get return errors every time I try to update the Video Info.
I am, however, very thankful that you allow your users to go back to the “old” Vimeo. But, perhaps you should have marketed your “New” service as more of a beta-test for certain users before releasing it to the public and flaunting the features that it doesn’t quite have yet.
Also, my videos occasionally appear out of sync with their audio. This issue doesn’t happen on Youtube. It’s an issue with your settings, not mine. Please, fix it.
Sincerely,
Someone who has paid money to use your services.
TG just linked this to me. So apt right now.
Exactly.
I decide whether or not to do your project for a commission or not. Please do not come towards me with the idea to work with me for free unless you’ve got something great to offer as collateral.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe that free work can sometimes yield you benefits that you may not have otherwise received by turning down the project. But, in my mind, free work is reserved for that and only that. Just because we’re close friends does not mean I’ll do work for free. To me, that’s you saying our relationship isn’t even worth supporting each other in our career paths.
A word of advice for anyone seeking out creative work: Never, ever approach a creative individual with the idea that they will work for free. It’s insulting.
